What skills are energy companies and regulatory agencies looking for in new hires and interns? How have they adapted their requirements after COVID-19? What jobs and experiences have led energy professionals to their present position? What career advice do they have for future energy leaders? In each episode of this webinar series, a recruiter and an energy professional will share their insights with undergraduate students who are interested in careers in the energy sector. Recruiters will discuss job and internship openings in their company or regulatory agency, as well as key skills that students should highlight to stand out from other applicants. Energy professionals will discuss their career path in the energy industry, as well as offer advice and perspectives on entering the energy industry.

Moderator:

Chiara Lo Prete is Associate Professor of Energy Economics in the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Penn State. Her research integrates economics, optimization and statistics to examine market structures that provide incentives for efficient operation and investment decisions in the electric power sector. Dr. Lo Prete and her research group have focused on the development of mathematical models and application of empirical methods to study cross-product manipulation, emission leakage, market structures to integrate variable energy resources, and resilience of interdependent natural gas and electric power systems. Dr. Lo Prete received a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation, and an Early Career Researcher Award from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. She earned a B.A. in Economics (summa cum laude), a M.A. in Energy Economics, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Geography and Environmental Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. Before joining Penn State in July 2014, Lo Prete was a Ziff Environmental Fellow at Harvard University from 2012 to 2014.

Siddhartha Sen, Director - IHS Markit
Siddhartha Sen, a director at IHS Markit, is responsible for upstream asset valuation and economics for the Latin America region on the Vantage® platform at IHS Markit. Over the years, he has been involved in building the North America unconventional economic model, updating the unconventional and conventional research for the Americas region, along with providing comparative analysis and insights for the Americas region. He has presented insights derived from Vantage® at IHS Markit Energy Explore events and external events, such as the International Association for Oil and Gas Producer Conference, AAPG and also at USAEE Houston Chapter event. He currently leads a team of petroleum engineers and geologists engaged in developing production forecasts, cost estimates, economic and financial metrics along with valuations for upstream onshore and offshore assets. Mr. Sen holds an MBA from Rice University, United States.
