The Colorado School of Mines is pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity to allow working professionals to access professional development courses without the time and expense of attending classes in Golden. In response to the demand for high quality, continuing professional education, the Colorado School of Mines has developed a graduate-level program leading to customizable and individualized Certificates of Completion.
Each course in the program is essentially identical to the corresponding credit course offered on campus, but the web-based format provides the convenience of time– and location–independent learning. Employees are able to pursue continuing professional development while remaining productive at their jobs.
Courses may be taken individually or collectively leading to a customizable Certificate from the Colorado School of Mines. A Certificate consists of five graduate-level courses taught by knowledgeable experts in their fields. The Certificate in Petroleum Reservoir Management begins in the Spring 2000 and includes the following:
Geologic Reservoir Characterization: Dr. Roger Slatt, CSM Department of Geology and Geological Engineering
Advanced Reservoir Simulation: Dr. John Fanchi, CSM Department of Petroleum Engineering
Integrated Reservoir Characterization: Dr. Mark Miller, CSM Department of Petroleum Engineering
Economics of Energy Resources: Dr. Carol Dahl, CSM Division of Economics and Business
Enhanced Oil Recovery: Dr. Richard Christiansen, CSM Department of Petroleum Engineering
There are no formal prerequisites; however, prospective students should note that these are graduate-level courses and contain the same content as credit courses offered to our resident graduate students. For more information and registration refer to the Mines Online site at
